Change the DNS Server

Domain Name Servers are like a phone book on the internet. Each computer on the internet is assigned a unique address, called IP (internet protocol) address. If you want to visit a website, it is only accessible via the IP address of that particular website. A typical IP address looks like 192.168.1.1 therefore, it is very difficult for a human being to remember the IP address of every website he visits daily. That’s why we need a human readable hostname like www.techmeastro.com. When you type a web address in your browser’s address bar, your Internet Service Provider(ISP) views the DNS associated with the domain name, translates it into a machine-readable IP address (for example 192.168.0.1 is the IP for xyz.com) and directs your Internet connection to the correct website.

Why do we need DNS Servers?

It is impossible for a human being to remember the IP addresses of all websites he visits daily. Therefore, we need DNS Server which resolves a human-friendly hostname into machine-friendly IP addresses. For example, if you know a person by his name but you don’t know his telephone number then you can find it easily with the help of a telephone directory. In our case, when you type a web address in your browser, your ISP views the DNS associated with the domain name and resolve it into a machine-friendly IP address.

Why Changing DNS Server? What are the benefits of changing the DNS Server?

Changing DNS Server can be a good step to increase your internet speed. Changing DNS Server could also allow you to access sites that are blocked by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
